Older Jurors More Likely to Convict
A study of 700 plus felony trials in Florida revealed that older jurors are more likely to convict than younger jurors. Researchers found that when the average age of a Juror was over 50 the conviction rate was at 79%, When the average age of jurors was less than 50 the conviction rate was 68%. This finding should not be too surprising to experienced criminal defense attorneys. I know that most Dallas criminal lawyers prefer younger jurors on criminal juries. Younger jurors are more willing to listen and are not as trusting of the police.
